MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF ASHDOWN, ARKANSAS
JUNE 11, 2012
The City Council of Ashdown, Arkansas met in regular session June 11, 2012 in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The following were present: Mayor Carroll McLarty, City Clerk Kirk Mounts, Council Members Michael Pennington, Tina Chandler, Glen Ray Bowman, Darren Adkison and Shirley Jackson.
ABSENT: Council Member Thrash
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Carroll McLarty followed by prayer by the Mayor. This was followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL / APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Following the roll call, Council Member Adkison made a motion to approve the minutes of the May meeting. Motion was seconded by Council Member Jackson. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:
After a brief overview from City Clerk Kirk Mounts the accounts payable for the month of May and the June payrolls were approved for payment by the Council on a motion made by Council Member Pennington, seconded by Council Member Adkison. Motion carried.
Dale Ford spoke before the Council.
Ordinance to increase mosquito spraying fee and to include master meter units on mosquito fee was put on its second reading on a motion made by Council Member Bowman, seconded by Council Member Chandler. Motion carried.
SWAWD contract was tabled until a later meeting.
CMT Enterprises claim against the City for water damage to one of their rental properties was declined by the Council on a motion by Council Member Adkison, seconded by Council Member Chandler. Motion carried.
Ordinance increasing trash fees was put on its first reading on a motion by Council Member Bowman, seconded by Council Member Adkison. Motion carried.
Approve financing for sanitation equipment was tabled until a later meeting.
Banking issue was tabled until a later meeting.
COUNCIL MEMBERS: Council Member Pennington made a motion to reduce the fee owed by Brady Day to City for the use of the City Baseball Fields from $1,000.00 to $500.00. The motion was seconded by Council Member Chandler. Motion carried The Council also agreed to reimburse Nick Bishop $500.00 from the $1000.00 he had paid the City for his use of the fields.
Council on a motion made by Council Member Adkison, seconded by Council Member Pennington agreed not to pursue the further collection of unauthorized expenditures that were found and noted during the 2010 City Audit. Upon a roll call vote Council Members: Pennington, Chandler, Bowman, Adkison and Jackson voted aye. No nays were recorded. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Council Member Pennington, seconded by Council Member Adkison to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
